چکیده

Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is currently the golden standard for root canal irrigation. NaOCl at a concentration of 5.25% to 6% can eliminate E. faecalis, but this increase risk toxic effects. Cyanobacteria spirulina known produce several secondary metabolites that have antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The aim study was determine antibiofilm power biofilms Enterococcus faecalis concentrations 60 mg/ml, 70 80 90 mg/ml. This research true experiment with post-test only group design. object divided into 6 groups. Group 1 negative control group, 2 positive 5% NaOCl, 3, 4, 5, were treatment groups given solution respectively. Optical density (OD) bacteria bound by staining analyzed ELISA auto reader wave length 595 nm (OD nm). results LSD test showed significance between K+ P1, P2, P3 (p< 0.005), P4 (p= 0.129), P1 P2 (p=0.449), (p=0.178). Significance p<0.0005 significant difference data using one-way ANOVA followed double comparison Least Different (LSD) Post Hoc method. mg/ml had greatest inhibitory effect on biofilm formation faecalis.

Antibacterial efficacy of endodontic irrigation solutions against Enterococcus faecalis

Methods Forty-one extracted single-rooted teeth were included in the present study. After content removal and autoclaving, they were divided into eight groups among which two were used as positive and negative controls. The remaining six groups were instrumented and irrigated with solutions containing 17% EDTA, sterile saline solution, and different concentrations of NaOCl. In addition, chlorhe...

Antibacterial activity of different root canal sealers against Enterococcus faecalis

BACKGROUND The aim of the present study was to compare in vitro the antimicrobial activity of different root canal sealers against Enterococcus faecalis, prior and subsequent to setting. MATERIAL AND METHODS Agar diffusion test (ADT) was used for evaluating the antibacterial activity of non-set sealer while the direct contact test (DCT) was used for after setting. RESULTS ADT: Except for To...

In vitro activity of Amazon plant extracts against Enterococcus faecalis

Previous studies analyzing 2,200 plant extracts indicated anti-enterococcal activity in 25 extracts obtained from Brazilian forests' plants. In the present study, these extracts were subjected to microdilution broth assay (MDBA) and disk diffusion assay (DDA) using planktonic Enterococcus faecalis ATCC(®) 29212™ and were submitted to phytochemical analysis in TLC and HPLC. Three extracts obtain...

Antibacterial activity of a new endodontic sealer against Enterococcus faecalis.

AIM The purpose of this study was to test a new root canal sealer (Epiphany) and 5 other root canal sealers (Diaket, Endomethasone, AH 26, Sealapex, Sultan) for their antimicrobial effect on Enterococcus faecalis. MATERIALS AND METHODS The antimicrobial effect of 6 root canal sealers was tested by the agar diffusion method. The freshly mixed sealers were placed in prepared wells of agar plate...
